HAPPY FRIDAY TO THE STREET

The MAHA crowd has a new target, and this time it’s not on your plate, but in your closet.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins is pushing the "Great American Cotton Plan," urging shoppers to buy "plant, not plastic" and toss their synthetic activewear.

The catch: even the "low-tox" brands cashing in on the panic are typically stitched together with a little polyester. Bearish signal for… literally every mall brand?

  • 🟥 | US stocks tumbled today, with the Nasdaq notching its worst daily decline in nearly a year, on the heels of a hot jobs report that snuffed rate cut hopes and a slew of profit-taking in the tech sector.

  • 📈 | One Notable Gainer: Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG) rose after JPMorgan (JPM) upgraded it to Overweight on same-store sales momentum.

  • 📉 | One Notable Decliner: Chip stocks slumped across the board as a post-Broadcom (AVGO) rout pushed investors out of tech and into defensive corners, dragging Arm (ARM), AMD (AMD), Intel (INTC), Qualcomm (QCOM), Nvidia (NVDA), and more sharply lower.

MARKET SNAPSHOT

WHAT SECTOR WILL SPACEX BE ASSIGNED TO IN THE S&P 500?

Wall Street's biggest IPO ever just hit its first real barrier.

S&P Global (SPGI) refused to bend its rules for SpaceX, which posted a $4.94 billion loss last year and cannot clear the profitability bar for S&P 500 entry. So rather than argue over index weighting, traders have taken to betting on something which sector the rocket maker even lands in.

The market closes on Jan 7, 2027. Given the leading category, Communication Services, is clocking in at just 17% odds, seems the majority of traders are now betting it won’t make the cut by then.

Market Movers

LULULEMON, SERVICETITAN, DOCUSIGN

📉 | Lululemon Athletica (LULU) cut its full-year earnings and revenue guidance.

📈 | ServiceTitan (TTAN) raised its full-year operating income outlook.

📉 | Docusign (DOCU) gave a second-quarter revenue outlook that failed to impress.

📈 | Cooper Companies (COO) beat second-quarter earnings and revenue estimates.

📉 | Guidewire Software (GWRE) posted gross margin below estimates despite beating on the top and bottom lines.

Hood Ornament

Deutsche Bank is doubling down on Robinhood just as the stock languishes well below its 52-week high.

Analyst Brian Bedell reiterated his Buy rating and lifted his target, betting that the company's fresh push into prediction markets is the catalyst that flips the narrative.

Rothera Rising

Robinhood is now routing select event contracts, starting with World Cup and pro baseball wagers, to Rothera, the exchange it launched in a joint venture with Susquehanna.

Bedell notes the timing is deliberate, landing alongside the 2026 World Cup to capture an asset class that has already seen more than 16 billion contracts traded this year.

Penny Wise

Rothera caps fees at $0.01 per contract, undercutting competitors’ ceilings, while keeping monetization steady. Robinhood will still carry Kalshi and ForecastEx, but cheaper trades could pull volume its way, and Bedell lifted his volume forecasts on the bet.

The stock still sits deep in the red from its highs. Deutsche Bank thinks Robinhood’s arrow is pointing up.
