Tomorrow's Trade Idea, Today
TWILIO TRIES TO RECONNECT

Static in the Signal
Barronβs believes Twilio $TWLO ( βΌ 0.22% ) is looking too low.
The cloud communications company in August turned in a modest earnings beat for its most recent quarter. Still, the stock slumped following the report and remains below pre-earnings levels.
The issue wasnβt results, but forecasts. Management kept its operating profit target unchanged at $863 million, implying lower margins as it spends more on R&D. CFO Aidan Viggiano said the higher investment is aimed at meeting demand for new products, particularly those with AI features.
Growth, at a Cost
Twilioβs business spans APIs for messaging, email, and voice. Just over half of revenue comes from its core messaging platform. The company charges clients a few cents per communication, which means revenue rises with usage but can also be vulnerable to broader economic slowdowns.
Global adoption still looks early. Twilio estimates its addressable market could reach $119 billion by 2028. It already serves more than 300,000 active accounts across 180 countries, and analysts note the company has beaten sales expectations in at least 20 straight quarters. Mizuhoβs Siti Panigrahi said a recent US price increase should support growth into 2026, with limited pushback from customers.
The Street View
Needhamβs Josh Reilly wrote that Twilio helps clients save costs through efficiency, leaving it βpositioned to take market share.β Panigrahi forecasts operating margins climbing to nearly 20% next year, with EPS growth of 18%. At about 3.2 times forward sales, Twilio trades well below the broader software groupβs multiple.
Whether that gap closes depends on execution. For now, Twilioβs near-term hit hasnβt erased its long-term growth story β one that increasingly leans on AI, international expansion, and pricing power.
Are you bullish or bearish on Twilio (TWLO) over the next 12 months?
