HAPPY TUESDAY TO THE STREET

The SEC just floated a proposal that would let public companies swap their quarterly 10-Qs for semiannual 10-S filings. The pitch, long backed by President Trump, says less reporting equals more long-term thinking. Critics worry retail investors will be left flying blind. Either way, earnings season may officially go semi-pro.

  • 🟩 | US stocks rose as strong earnings and a pullback in oil boosted risk appetite, pushing the S&P 500 and Nasdaq to fresh highs.

  • 📈 | One Notable Gainer: Intel (INTC) jumped on a report that Apple (AAPL) held early-stage talks about using its chipmaking services.

  • 📉 | One Notable Decliner: PayPal (PYPL) dropped on a report it would cut 20% of its staff.

MARKET SNAPSHOT

TESLA DELIVERIES IN Q2

Tesla's (TSLA) Semi just landed one of its biggest fleet wins yet: 60 trucks headed to two California port operators via Forum Mobility, the charging provider backed by Amazon (AMZN) and CBRE (CBRE). Short-haul drayage is where electric trucks actually pencil out, which makes this a rare EV order driven by math instead of vibes.

Market Movers

COINBASE, SHOPIFY, CYTOKINETICS

📉 | Coinbase (COIN) cut 14% of its staff with CEO Brian Armstrong pinning the call on AI.

📉 | Shopify (SHOP) slid after guiding Q2 revenue growth to slow sharply from the first quarter.

📈 | Cytokinetics (CYTK) surged on positive Phase 3 results for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy drug aficamten.

📈 | Rockwell Automation (ROK) rallied on a fiscal Q2 beat and a raised full-year profit outlook.

Squish Test

Wolfe Research analyst Spencer Hanus is sticking with his Outperform call on Five Below. The catalyst is small, squishy, and bizarrely viral.

Dumpling-shaped fidget toys are blowing up on TikTok and pulling shoppers through the door, the analyst said. Last week, the chain capped purchases at three mystery dumplings per customer per day.

Toy Story

The squish trend, which also includes NeeDoh and Taba, is driving repeat visits and new shopping occasions. Scarcity is doing the rest.

Hanus sees Q1 same-store sales printing in the high teens to low 20s, well above consensus at 16%, with Q2 estimates still too low. He expects management to leave room to beat and raise throughout the year.

Boxing Above Its Weight

Both new and existing customer sales are accelerating, fading concerns about comping the comp. Hanus says Five Below consistently ranks in Wolfe's top bucket of monthly in-store checks on assortment, cleanliness, and customer energy.

Shares are in the green year-to-date. The trend will eventually cool. Until then, the dumplings keep delivering.

  • 🐂 Yup, I’m holding — Oppenheimer just started coverage last week on PLTR at $200. Another blowout quarter today. Almost every other day, they announce new relationships worth 100’s of millions. Karp is brilliantly smart, but talks about his personal thoughts too much.
