HAPPY TUESDAY TO THE STREET
Meta’s (META) latest roll-out hasn’t exactly put the “smart” in “smart glasses”.
Social media users and guerrilla ad campaigns from New York to London have derided its new Ray-Ban partnership as mass-market surveillance, or just plain creepy. Meta’s response? A firmware patch and a few policy tweaks.
User-generated content built Meta’s empire. It might just break it too.
🟨 | US stocks were mixed today as both chipmakers and oil prices slid.

WILL THE IPHONE 18 LAND IN 2026?
Apple (AAPL)'s iPhone 18 Pro rumor mill is now a genre unto itself. Bolder colors? A shrunken Dynamic Island? A pricier A20 chip? A price hike nobody asked for?
Samsung and Google (GOOGL) are already staking claims to August, leaving Cupertino (and Kalshi bettors) to decide whether September still belongs to Apple alone… or whether those rumors will even come to pass this year.
Market Movers
CORNING, PAYPAL, UPS
📉 | Corning (GLW) sank on revenue guidance that missed forecasts, dragging photonics peers Coherent (COHR) and Lumentum (LITE) lower.
📈 | PayPal (PYPL) rose after topping second quarter earnings and revenue expectations.
📉 | UPS (UPS) fell even after beating Q2 earnings and revenue estimates.
📈 | Boeing (BA) gained after Q2 revenue topped estimates despite a wider than expected adjusted loss.
📉 | Sandisk (SNDK) tumbled for a third straight session as memory chip stocks broadly sold off.

The Antidote Play
Bernstein’s ESP is saying, “Bet on BSP.”
Bending Spoons, a newly-listed tech firm, is what the firm calls an antidote to the AI trade. It means that as a compliment.
Deeper Cuts
Rather than chase growth at any cost, the Milan-based company buys up aging internet brands like AOL, Eventbrite, and Vimeo, then uses AI to gut their overhead and fund the next deal.
The comparison to private equity roll-ups undersells what is happening here, per the analyst.
Bernstein's Mark Shmulik notes the cuts run deeper than typical finance-focused funds, and the company keeps its own engineering team in place, making the tech integrations permanent rather than something a future buyer could unwind.
The Resale Catch
Other desks on the Street have echoed the bullish call since Bending Spoons' early July debut, though the stock has been choppy since.
The real test, analysts say, is whether AI lets Bending Spoons' targets fix themselves before the company even shows up with a checkbook. For now, Bernstein likes its odds.
