Buckle Up
Citi is taking Mobileye Global for a spin, initiating coverage on the self-driving systems stock with a Buy rating.
Analyst Michael Ward expects automakers to keep chasing safer vehicles, with autonomous technology leading that push over the next decade.
He sees Mobileye, a 25-year leader in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), firmly in the driver's seat.
Passing the EyeQ Test
Mobileye's EyeQ chip already powers more than 230M cars across 1,400 models worldwide, according to Ward.
He expects that footprint to grow as lidar and 360-degree vision systems spread, enabling features like steering assist and adaptive cruise control.
Mobileye also plans to roll out more advanced, higher-content systems with global automakers in 2028, per Citi.
Against the Traffic
Citi's call breaks from the pack. Of the 25 analysts covering the stock, 10 rate it a Buy or Strong Buy, while 14 rate it a Hold.
Shares are deep in the red year to date, badly trailing the S&P 500. Citi is betting the rest of the Street is stuck in the slow lane.
