HAPPY WEDNESDAY TO THE STREET.

Nvidia $NVDA ( β–Ό 0.09% ) numbers are in. It was a top- and bottom-line beat β€”Β but only just. Revenue, for example, was a β€œmere” $700M higher than forecasted. Data center revenue surged 56% year-over-year, but just 6% from the previous quarter.

For any other company, those would be great figures. But the way investors weigh Nvidia, we wouldn’t be surprised if they’re not great enough. It wouldn’t be the first time a major earnings beat sent the stock cratering.

With the weight of the market on your shoulders, even the slightest disappointment can feel crushing.

  • 🟩 | US stocks ticked up today to a new ATH for the S&P 500 ahead of Nvidia’s earnings, which came after the bell.

  • πŸ“ˆ | One Notable Gainer: American Eagle $AEO ( β–² 8.54% ) might be looking at long-term weakness, as we covered in yesterday’s story, but it found another short-term catalyst after announcing a collab with Travis Kelce’s Tru Kolors.

  • πŸ“‰ | One Notable Decliner: Jam-maker JM $SJM ( β–Ό 4.44% ) got Smucked after reporting weakness in its coffee business.

Finally, read to the end for a deep dive into America’s weirdest empire…

HOW 433 INVESTORS UNLOCKED 400X RETURN POTENTIAL

Institutional investors back startups to unlock outsized returns. Meanwhile, regular investors have to wait. But not anymore. Thanks to regulatory updates, some companies are doing things differently.

Take Revolut. In 2016, 433 regular people invested an average of $2,730. Today? That’s worth $1+ million, up 89,900%. No wonder thousands are taking the chance on Pacaso.Β

Founded by a former Zillow exec, Pacaso’s co-ownership tech reshapes the $1.3T vacation home market. They’ve earned $110M+ in gross profit to date, including 41% YoY growth in 2024 alone. They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

The same institutional investors behind Uber, Venmo, and eBay also backed Pacaso.Β

And you can join them as an early-stage investor for just $2.90/share.Β

BAIRD SAYS THIS SNEAKER STOCK COULD OUTRUN NVIDIA

Shoemaker With Shoes

Here’s a fact we’d wager not 1 in 1,000 investors know:

Apple $AAPL ( β–² 0.52% ) and Nike $NKE ( β–Ό 0.75% ) went public just 10 days apart in December 1980. And for the next 40 years, the shoemaker stock went on to thrash the returns of the world’s most iconic tech company. From 1980 to 2020, Nike shares returned 96,570%, adjusting for splits and dividends, while Apple shares rose 76,850%.

This outperformance, which includes a 13-year stretch after the iPhone’s debut, is a reminder that tech’s recent dominance in markets hasn’t been the case forever. And it’s not just Nike. Another shoe stock, Decker’s Outdoor $DECK ( β–² 2.67% ) , made Kiplinger’s list of the top 10 stocks of this century. It has returned 35,238% since 2000.

History shows that foot apparel stocks can outrun big tech sometimes, both in short-term sprints and for the long haul. Could it happen again? One Baird analyst at Baird believes so.

Recovering from β€œSelf-Inflicted Headwinds”

Analyst Jonathan Komp projects nearly 50% upside for Vans-parent VF $VFC ( β–² 2.89% ). For context, Baird’s $225 price target for Nvidia $NVDA ( β–Ό 0.09% ) implies just under 24% upside.

Komp says VF looks poised for an β€œinflection point” after reporting a quarterly loss that was smaller than expected. While he didn’t seem impressed by VF’s investment in a new skate shoe trend, he sees potential for a turnaround to become evident in the next 6-12 months, as VF puts β€œself-inflicted headwinds” behind it that had cost the company in each of the last three quarters.

By Q4, Komp expects that VF’s profit could hit an inflection point ahead of sales, through a combination of more interesting product development, social media branding success, and recent mistakes fading from consumer consciousness.

Analysts Ambivalent on VF

VF shares jumped yesterday on news of the upgrade. But most analysts covering the stock are ambivalent about its path forward. Of the 24 who cover it, 15 have a Hold rating, while six rate it a Buy or Strong Buy. Three others have Underperform ratings.

Interestingly, these analysts have underestimated VF’s earnings for each of the last four quarters, lowballing quarterly earnings by as much as 82%. The next earnings report, scheduled for October 27, will shed light on whether or not the turnaround Komp envisions is becoming a reality.

BIG INVESTORS ARE BUYING THIS β€˜UNLISTED’ STOCK

When the founder who sold his last company to Zillow for $120M starts a new venture, people notice. That’s why the same VC firms that backed Uber, Venmo, and eBay also invested in Pacaso.

Disrupting the real estate industry once again, Pacaso’s streamlined platform offers co-ownership of premier properties, revamping the $1.3T vacation home market.

And it works. By handing keys to 2,000+ happy homeowners, Pacaso has already made $110M+ in gross profits in their operating history.

Now, after 41% YoY gross profit growth last year alone, they recently reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.

And you can join them as an early-stage investor for just $2.90/share.Β
